Nomaia is a portal for Maori art, culture and business in Melbourne wiith links to Taranaki, New Zealand which is home. This is a personal endeavour website whose nature is the promotion of our contemporary and traditional arts; culture with links to Maori language, kapahaka, waka ama (outrigging canoeing), traditional medicine and spiritual healing; and business initiatives in Maori development covering grassroots, community and national trends.

In case you are wandering why anyone would direct their spare time towards a website like this - the answer is easy. Its very difficult finding Maori anything in Melbourne. A few years ago while involved in outrigging canoeing, we wanted our canoes blessed but could not find kaumatua because we did not know where to look. This site aims to remove the pain of looking.

na, Serena Bailey (October 2005)
